APWonders S.r.l. is a spin-off company of the University of Palermo, engaged in research, development, and creation of intellectual property in the field of industrial engineering, as well as in the design, production, and commercialization of innovative products and services with high technological value. The initial core business of APWonders focused on a newly designed wind turbine. Over time, the company has devised and patented additional innovative solutions, including an anti-roll system for boats and an impact energy absorption system. APWonders has received prestigious awards, including winning the Smart and Start calls from Invitalia, as well as the Seal of Excellence from the European Commission in 2017 and 2018, following participation in Horizon 2020 calls. Over the years, the company's activities have progressively evolved: today, the core business focuses on the design and creation of custom-made devices and prototypes, developed according to the specific needs of clients. Many research centers, both public and private, lack advanced skills in mechanical design, especially for the creation of complex laboratory prototypes and instruments. Additionally, there is a need for turnkey solutions, including motors, control systems, and essential accessories, whose separate purchase is often made onerous by lengthy bureaucratic processes, especially for public entities. APWonders acts as a bridge between the needs of researchers and the concrete realization of devices that represent the best possible execution of the design idea. Thanks to this capability, the company has intercepted the needs of important centers of excellence, participating in public calls for the supply of cutting-edge laboratory devices. The private sector has also recognized the value of APWonders' technological proposal, with a significant number of orders, including requests from US companies.
